I'm looking at moving to Kentucky from Pennsylvania. I've been licensed to carry in Pennsylvania for over thirty years. Before reciprocity started becoming a big thing, I got carry permits from Arizona and Virginia.

Our corrupt Attorney General has made a ruling that residents of Pennsylvania must have a carry permit from Pennsylvania and can no longer carry on a permit from another state.

So the question is, does Kentucky have a similar rule? Until I get my Kentucky permit, will I be okay carrying on one of the three permits that I already have?

If you move to KY then you have to get a KY permit. Laws with time limits are posted on Kentucky State Police website.

you need to check with Penn. on one issue sir. that being is your permit still valid once you take up residency in another state. I know my ca. permit was null and void the minute I took up residence here in Ky. Keep in mind that even without a ccdw you can legally carry in your vehicle without having a Ky ccdw read up on ky law to know how this works. I glove box carried a loaded handgun up until I got my ccdw.

I looked into that years ago after a previous move. My license is valid until expired or revoked.

I'm in the same boat. I moved here from NY, with my full carry permit, and now need to apply for my KY CCDW. I looked online, and see that I need to be a resident for 6 months before I can even apply, but it also says that I have to apply within 120 days. I'm confused, any information anyone can add? Maybe I need to contact the KSP for clarification.

Don't forget that Ky is an open carry state, with no licensing required for that

Well both of you guys are in luck. I'm running a concealed carry class next Sat. In Shepherdsville just south of Louisville. PM me if you want to take it.

Gunner, I would be all over your class but I am about 3+ hours SW of you. Thanks for the heads-up though.

I've had students drive farther then that for other classes. Plus we smoke cigars on the range.

Seriously no worries. Check with your local gun store there should be someone near you that does it.

For those interested I have started a MEETUP for Conceal Carry Louisville. You can find it at the meetup web site.

First meeting I am having an attorney who teaches at the DOJTC here in KY. She teaches police officers on the law so we will get the straight dope from her. Only have room for 20 people in the room I have for first one.

It's on the meetup page. First one is going to be at Point Blank Range & Gunshop. They are kind enough to let us use one of their rooms for free.

Want to move it around if we can find a space big enough.
